What should have been a routine overnight trip back home turned into one of the most devastating road tragedies seen in recent times.
Late Tuesday night (13), a violent head-on collision between a passenger van and a truck shattered lives along Brazil’s BR-251 highway, near Grão Mogol in northern Minas Gerais. When the wreckage was finally cleared, nine people were confirmed dead and at least twelve others were injured, several of them fighting for their lives.
The van was carrying workers returning to Ceará after finishing a period of labor. For many, the journey represented rest, family reunions, and a brief escape from exhaustion. Instead, it ended abruptly in tragedy.

Preliminary findings from the Civil Police of Minas Gerais suggest the truck crossed into the opposite lane moments before impact.

Investigators examined skid marks, displaced asphalt, and drag trails on the roadway, all pointing to the truck veering into oncoming traffic. The force of the collision was so extreme that debris from both vehicles was scattered across the highway, leaving the van nearly destroyed.
For the injured, the night became a struggle to survive. Victims were rushed to multiple hospitals, where medical teams treated fractures, internal injuries, and severe trauma.
